5 Best Apps to Boost Your Sourcing
What apps & websites are helpful for recruiting?
Introduction
It can be said that this article is in a way an extension of our series on Recruiting and Sourcing, as well as providing solid support for the topics in which we wrote about X-Ray Search and other effective sourcing tools.
It’s good to know what can enhance work, open up new opportunities, or even speed up certain processes of operation (even if it’s a pretty minor improvement that can lead to further development of your sourcing skills), which is why this article was written. We suggest how you can expand your activities and better organize the next stages of recruitment.
5 useful apps
1. GLOSSARYTECH
This is an online glossary for Tech Recruiters and Sourcers — a very good solution to help you understand names and terms in the widely defined IT field. It can be used in 2 ways:
- as a CV Scanner, where you can paste excerpts or entire resumes, and the system picks up the names of technologies, gives their definitions and colors the measures belonging to specific categories
- as a browser plugin, which works the same way, but you don’t have to copy anything. You immediately get information, for example, about the candidate’s profile on LinkedIn
Glossarytech is an invaluable resource especially for those Sourcers and Recruiters who are just beginning their journey with technical recruiting, but also useful for Senior Recruiters, because, after all, new technologies appear in the IT world every now and then.
2. GRAMMARLY
This is a whole set of applications for checking English spelling and grammar. In total, you have 4 tools at your disposal, which are an add-on to Microsoft Office, a dedicated word processor for Windows or Mac, a plagiarism detector and a browser plug-in — that is, what you use most often. You can use the application for free, but there are also: paid, educational and business versions, which provide a range of additional functionality.
3. APPOINT.LY
This application quickly and easily helps to schedule appointments through integration with online calendars, as it is synchronized with them. Thanks to it, only free dates are always available, so there is no problem with overlapping dates. Moreover, when making appointments in a larger group, we can generate one link and send it to all participants.
4. MULTIHIGHLIGHTER
In short, MultiHighlighter is a lightweight but powerful extension that allows to search/highlight multiple words on almost any web page. Each term is highlighted in a specific color.
With this tool, you can search and highlight, as well as edit text quickly on the website and local files.
5. HYPERCONTEXT
This is an application designed for recruitment meetings. With Hypercontext, recruiters can conduct productive kickoff meetings with hiring managers across the company via meeting agendas. A place to store all decisions and notes is also provided there. Using this app, you will also be able to provide updates asynchronously and discuss progress, blockers and even more. Hypercontext can also be a good place to proceed company-wide 1:1 meetings, meaning that each employee can have a dedicated place to manage, talk about their growth and development, exchange two-way feedback and discuss important issues.
Email finding websites
Tools that find email addresses are extremely important elements of a Recruiter’s and Sourcer’s work, so we decided to include examples and worthwhile sites to help you find them.
- HUNTER
This website allows to find professional email addresses in seconds and get in touch with people your company is interested in.
For example — we want to find a person who works at the Jagiellonian University. The software is free, and the search field can be limited to “private” (personal) and general emails, such as “contact” (generic).
Hunter found 2,313 email addresses. One working person is enough, but sometimes you need to send the same email to multiple people to increase the probability of a response within a week or two (in this case, Jagiellonian University). If, on the other hand, you’d like to send an email to every address the program has found, all you need to do is export a list of all emails to a .csv file. Unfortunately, this option comes at an additional cost.
2. GOOGLE
The fastest and best way to find an email address is to type in the name and company where the person works. Unfortunately, in this case you would have to know in advance that Mr./Ms. Y works at company X, but this is often a big problem. On the other hand, it is a good idea to take advantage of knowing the email address, which is identical to the website address, only containing the prefix @. So, if you would like to find a contact for a specific person from the Jagiellonian University, you could try this way: name @ uj.edu.pl. It may be surprising, but it really works. If you need a contact person for some company, try typing the name of the company and the word “contact.” Google will automatically give you pages with this keyword. There should also be an email. If not — use Hunter described above.
3. LINKEDIN
LinkedIn is proving to be quite an effective platform through which you can gain a lot of very valuable contacts. It is always a good idea to prepare your profile and start the “add contacts” routine. Most people accept invitations, even from unknown people, as long as they have good-looking and complete profiles. It’s a great idea to invest time in developing on LinkedIn, as it can be profitable and help you make contacts.
What if you don’t necessarily want to contact the person in chat?
The procedure is simple but effective. Go to the profile of the selected person and add her/him to your contacts. It may take a while, but when you finally get the invitation accepted, you can then click “contact information” in the person’s “information” section.
4. NYMERIA
Nymeria is an extension for the Chrome browser — a plug-in that allows you to quickly and easily find contact information on multiple social networks (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Github). With one click, you can find a person’s email, phone number and social media profiles. Nymeria is a platform that allows individuals and teams to discover and connect with anyone. With this site, you can not only find people and contact information to them, but also add contacts to folders, export them, mass-enrich spreadsheets and much more.
Summary
Looks like we’ve reached the end of the article.
